Power Women Series: Joanna Yoo @joannathenurse

Individually we all hold a wealth of knowledge. We are all gifted in different ways. We have all given experiences that have shaped us, and formed us, and made us teachers for others. The beauty of our differences is how we can learn from the experience and knowledge of others. In my quest to spread wellness in our society and in our generation, I believe it is important to learn about people we adire. As Young Los Angeles grows into lifestyle inspiration, I will feature short interview questionaires from different people I am watching, people I admire, and people I hope to embody in some way. This week, I feature Joanna The Nurse. She is an aestheics nurse in Orange County. With a Masters in Nursing from Western University of Health Sciences, her pursuit to provide patients with personalized treatment has allowed her to become quickly popular in the injectables industry. Joanna has built a strong following on Instagram in 2017 and continues to quickly grow her reach daily. She is a loving daughter, wife, and mommy of a sweet baby boy. As if this wasn't enough, she is also a blogger! "I knew I wanted to become a nurse during my last year of high school. During that time period and throughout college, I volunteered at the Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). Once I got into nursing school, I worked at a fertility center in Orange County. It was another eye-opening experience, one that I thoroughly enjoyed. Near the conclusion of my program, I started working at Image Plastic Surgery as a patient care coordinator. One thing led to another, and now I am the aesthetic nurse for them. I could not have asked for a better career for myself!" What I love about Joanna is her positive outlook on life and contagious energy. I am drawn by people like her. Like all of us, she is sure to have tough days - but she always looks for the positive in every day, the positive in every interaction, and the positive in every person. She shares tons of her personal life on her IG stories, and goes more in depth of different subjects on her blog. I admire women who are not afraid to show who they really are, and can be genuine and refreshing in all they do. Below you will find her answers to our interview! YLA: What is your job and what does that entail? @joannathenurse: I am an aesthetics nurse, and I mainly do injections! I see patients everyday, and I work full-time. YLA: Who are you as a human being and how did you become that person? @ joannathenurse: As a human being, I am always looking for new ways to become the best person I can be! YLA: How has Mental Wellness played a role in your life, and how have you learned to manage it? @ joannathenurse: I try to have a good hold of my emotions. Mental Wellness plays a role in my daily life because I like to stay focused! YLA: Do you practice any morning rituals, or mental wellness practices? @joannathenurse: I like to listen to inspirational music while getting ready! YLA: What is one short-term goal and one long-term goal for your overall wellness? @joannathenurse: Short term, eat healthy! Long term, be kind to EVERYONE, it makes me a happy person! YLA: What is your advice to young people who struggle with being happy or with not being able to reach their goals? @joannathenurse: #focus on the positive things and don't ever lose hope in yourself. YLA: Can you please leave us with one of your favorite quotes, and tell us why you like it so much? @joannathenurse: "No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted." - Aesop.
